Jovan Belcher VTF 164x300 Are head injuries causing us to re think football?A recent report from September 2014 brought to light a worrying possibility: head injuries suffered by sports stars could be to blame for an increment in domestic violence.

Take, for example, the case of Jovan Belcher. In 2012, the former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker took his own life after murdering his girlfriend. Two years later, a neuropathological report revealed that Belcher's brain was showing signs of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, symptomatic of brain damage. [read more…]

virginiatech uva football Can Virginia Tech Salvage Its Season? This season feels strange, but it shouldn't.  Its very similar to last year, with the Hokies needing to win 2 of its last 3 games to finish with a winning record and become bowl eligible.  Will they do it?  Its anybody's guess.

The bigger story is the new phase of existence the Virginia Tech Football program now finds itself.  Much like Florida State with Bobby Bowden, and Penn State with Joe Paterno, we are officially in the phase of "waiting to see how smooth or how ugly our transition away from our patriarch coach" will really be.

But there is a season to be salvaged.

Miami Virginia Tech Football 300x231 Virginia Tech Football At A Cross RoadsThe last 2 1/2 seasons have been down for Virginia Tech Football, but I've felt that the majority of the fan base was not yet in crisis mode. Despite two mediocre seasons, some bad losses, coaching changes, and a sometimes loud segment of the fan base saying that big chances were needed, my sense is most were in 'wait it out' mode.

I believe that changed on Thursday after the Miami game. [read more…]

img21937076 Buzz Williams hired as next Virginia Tech mens head basketball coach

Virginia Tech has hired former Marquette Golden Eagles basketball coach Buzz Williams. The deal is reportedly for $18 million for seven years. I personally think this was a great hire for the Hokies. I hope he can bring over the success he had at Marquette to Virginia Tech, because we really need it. Only time will tell, but for now I am very excited to see what the future holds for the Hokies basketball program.

50c7907673657.image James Johnson Out As Mens Head Basketball Coach

James Johnson has officially been fired today. This comes as no surprise after the Hokies finished last in the ACC for the second consecutive season. James Johnson took over after Jim Weaver fired Seth Greenberg. Johnson had served as an assistant under Greenberg for five seasons. Before Greenberg was fired, Johnson had accepted an assistant coaching job at Clemson, but once Tech offered him the head coaching job, he came back to Blacksburg.

Virginia Tech Needs Quarterback Help

by JustinC February 28, 2014

Virginia Tech has a history of having a very talented and very athletic quarterback behind center. If things stay status quo, the Hokies will head into the 2013 season with as many question marks as there were entering the 2006 season. Mark Leal has stayed loyal to the Hokies even though I’m sure transferring to […]

Signing Day Wrap-Up: WR Isaiah Ford

by JustinC February 8, 2014

To recap Signing Day, the Hokies lost 4* wide receiver Javon Harrison to Florida State but gained 4* wide receiver Isaiah Ford, who was a Louisville commit for most of the fall. Honestly, I think Virginia Tech upgraded at the position and brought in a more reliable target in Ford.
