With 46 days left until Virginia Tech takes the field against Appalachian State, we turn our attention to one of the numberless Hokies on the roster, Mr. Fuller Hoepner. For most Tech fans, Hoepner is an unknown entity at this point. However, to most around the program, Hoepner is a talented athlete that could eventually push some of the scholarship players for playing time down the road. He’s a converted quarterback who will most likely spend his entire career at tight end here at Virginia Tech.

Stats
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 227 lbs
Position: Tight End
Year: R-Freshman
High School: Cosby High School
How Did He Get Here
Hoepner received interest from numerous teams but the Hokies offered the best shot at playing time. He chose Virginia Tech over interest from Penn State, UVA, and others.
2010 Season
Redshirted.
2011 Prospectus
The Hokies still have plenty of question marks at tight end as we enter this 2011 season but there are enough bodies there for somebody to emerge behind starter Chris Drager. With some freshmen entering the fold this summer and some scholarship players above them, it will be tough for a walk-on like Hoepner to earn any playing time this fall. At best he could see some time on special teams but odds are, Hoepner will probably have to spend another year on the scout team before giving it another go next spring. With some more weight and a better grasp of the offense, the former Cosby star could be a player to watch in 2012. He’s a good athlete, just needs to learn the tight end position and bulk up a little more.
Career Highlight
Being born with the name Fuller Hoepner. That's a cool name.
Career Lowlight
Likely never hearing Brent Musberger ask for a proper pronunciation of his name.
Look A-Like
Completely made up fact
Unlike his great uncle, Erich Hoepner, Fuller does not believe in Nazism mainly because he does not believe in failure. Yea, how does that feel Nazis who read and/or follow my blog? Yea, take that.

This question is all about crime and Punishment: Does Georgia Tech going on probation mean they can’t play in a bowl game? Has Ohio State received their punishment from the NCAA yet? I thought UNC was suppose to be receiving their punishment in early July from the NCAA? What is going to happen at WVU? and Is Georgia going to get in trouble for the ponzi scheme? Thanks for the help in advance.
p.s. I always hook up Fuller with extra meat at DX
Haha, pretty sure that last part is an NCAA violation somewhere so you’re fired. Joking.
The NCAA has certainly been busy this offseason and I can’t really speak for most of the non-ACC schools just because I don’t really follow them as closely as I do the others. Georgia Tech got probation, which is basically the same as if a regular person was put on probation. No penalties just hey don’t screw up again. So yes they can play in a bowl game this fall.
UNC is going to get ugly in a hurry. We’ve already had Marvin Austin go ham on twitter, blaming Butch Davis and UNC. With the NOA already in, UNC will have to go before the NCAA later on this year and defend themselves. I have a feeling that will not go well for UNC, especially if they keep up this we’re mightier than God attitude they have. I would expect worse than USC penalties for them eventually. Butch and his entire staff will likely be fired and they’ll be hit with a stiff scholarship reduction and a 2-3 season postseason ban. So, you know… the usual.
Ohio State won’t face huge sanctions but they’ll probably lose a couple scholarships and be placed on a similar 4 year probation period to that of GT. Honestly, if Tressel didn’t lie to the NCAA about anything, OSU probably would have skated with just probation and maybe the loss of a player or two. Instead, he covered it up and it cost him his job.
lmbo- Id be interested to know where the confirmation for the relationship to the nazi uncle came from?
If you google his last name, that comes up. Just thought it was funny.
