I'm not saying VT can't win a National Championship, I'm just saying its probably not going to happen over the next 10 years. I hope we do win one, hell I would hope we could win 2 or 3 but the odds of it happening is very unlikely. You also have to think back to 2000 and if I wrote this article then, how many people would have agreed with me on Number 1 seeing that we were coming off a National Title game appearance.

I wanted number one to be about a National Title and I really didn't want to take the obvious of stating that "Ohh VT will definitely win a Title this decade." I went the other direction and took a more realist view of it. The odds are definitely against VT right now, but that could change with the evolution of the game and a little luck.

Hopefully we can win one but that window of opportunity of winning it under Beamer is slowly beginning to close.

Well, I'll have to disagree on #1. I see no reason whatsoever that VT can't win a national title, and I think that it will happen sometime within the next 10 years. I say this in part because I believe that eventually the powers-that-be will scrap the current system and go to a genuine playoff to determine college football's national champion. In that scenario, VT doesn't have to worry about being jobbed in the polls like we do now. Just make it to the final 4 (or final 8, as I'd prefer) and we have the same chance as anyone else.

I agree with all your other predictions.

I agree with you on N0. 1... National Championships for a team like Tech are a once in a life time thing. I just enjoy the fact that we are mentioned for it every year. I just know our luck and the one year we go undefeated so will a Big 12 team and so will a SEC team and we will be the Aubrun team we played a few years back in the Sugar, you know, the odd man out. I really think our future is bright in the Burg... Logan Thomas could be the kid to take us to the next level. He will have an IMMENSE amount of talent around him when he takes over for Tyrod in two years. But hey as long as we keep beating up on poor ole UVA then everything is A OK with me!
