I was reading a post about Penn State Football at PennStateCentral.com which pointed to SI.com and their oh so immediate gratification pre-season ranking of college football for 2010. You can start too early. As expected, the Hokies are ranked pretty high and likely will be that way in a lot of polls. Expectations will be cranked up pretty high
There are some interesting things about their poll as well, including several of Virginia Tech's big opponents in 2010.
The Hokies are ranked 9th in this particular poll. If we can't find any semblance of a defensive line that should be about right. If we can't then that is way too high.

In 2009 we started the year off with a bang playing top 5 ranked Alabama to start the season. According to SI.com, we'll be playing another top 5 ranked out of conference game in 2010, this time against the Boise State Broncos on October 2nd at FedEx field. Other Virginia Tech opponents ranked in this poll: #8 Georgia Tech (I'm not buying it), #14 Miami, and #18 UNC.
FYI there are 4 ACC teams and 4 SEC teams in this particular top 25.
