lotw2 Locks of the Weeks and Boston College Game CommentsWell it seems like a month since I sat and watched a Virginia Tech football game live on TV.  When you consider the off week, the no-TV Western Kentucky game, and the road trip to Nebraska, its pretty much been a month.  I've got the TV room all ready for Saturday night's big clash, and it should be a good one.  I expect it to be close, and for some reason I see the Hokies coming away with a win by a touchdown.

Not that anyone should be following my college football picks.  After being rock solid the last few years, every since sharing my picks on this blog, my confidence is shot.  A 3-5 week seems the norm for me, as it was last week.  Here are the college football picks for this week:

  • Uconn -1 over Rutgers
  • Missouri +6.5 over Texas
  • Air Force -4 over UNLV
  • LSU -3.5 over South Carolina
  • Arkansas St. +4 over UL Lafayette
  • Florida Atlantic +1 over Western Kentucky
  • Troy -7 over FIU

Last week:  3 - 5       Overall this year:  11 - 18 - 1

As for the Hokies and Eagles, I expect Foster's defense to confuse Chris Crane for much of the game.  He's played well this year, but CBF just tends to mix up these QBs who haven't played a lot.  BC will try to run the ball, which plays to the VT defense strength.  BC will have some drives and score some points, but it won't be a lot as long as they aren't helped by turnovers and special teams.

Likewise, BC's defense will be prove to be stout, especially for runs up the middle.  The VT o-line and run game just seems to be getting things in gear, it will be interesting to see if the time off loses any of this momentum.  The Hokies will have more success if they pressure the BC defense on the perimeter, get TT on the edge, get some screens going, get the TEs involved (I'll keep saying this all year), and stretch the field with some big plays.

I just have a feeling that the VT consistent play in ACC road games is going to extend tomorrow night in a close win by 1 or 2 scores.

Go Hokies!
