As we say often, we Hokies are lucky to have many great Virginia Tech Sports related websites at our disposal for news, opinion, analysis, and other interesting info. One of our favorite here at VirginiaTechFan.com, which delivers a little bit of all of these, is TailgateFever.com. This site is probably at its peak of popularity after its recent accomplishment, for which it deserves some kudos.
The "Hokie Update", a regular column by the anonymous author of this site hits my email inbox usually every Thursday or Friday before VT football games. I print it out with anticipation because its a great read. Its a combination of analysis of the previous game, preview of the upcoming game, but more than anything loaded with humor, satire, and just plain funny stuff.
You'll either get a summary of the author's and his friends' tailgating adventures ("Tailgate Fever" is their calling in life), an interview with a wahoo or another opposing fan or mascot, or analysis of the teams current status with lots of schtick layered on. His favorite subject seems to be Jim Weaver, who apparantly is master of all evils, especially noon kick-offs (not good for tailgaiting).
Each week he also predicts the games upcoming score. For the Sept 13th Georgia Tech game preview, the Hokie Update first went on a rant about the rumor of orange uniforms ("orange is a perfectly fine color if you do not want to be shot by another hunter"), then went on to predict a final score of 20-13 Virginia Tech, which of course was spot on. In the next edition, they proudly took credit for hitting the score right "for the first time in fourteen years of writing this D-minus below-average column".
Their prediction for the next game vs. UNC? 20-17 Virginia Tech. So yes, the Hokie Update has now hit the VT score on the number twice in a row. I suggest you not only subscribe to the Hokie Update for its pure entertainment value, but also if you are heading to Vegas this weekend.
